President Ram Chandra Paudel is currently visiting Germany and is going to have official discussions with German President Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier tonight. President Paudel's visit to Germany comes after his recent trip to Switzerland.
President Paudel arrived in Berlin on Saturday night in response to an official invitation from President Steinmeier. The two leaders will have discussions to strengthen the relationship between Nepal and Germany.
Earlier today, President Paudel was honored by the German government in Berlin. Diplomatic relations between Nepal and Germany were established on April 4, 1958, and have developed based on friendship, understanding, and cooperation. Both countries have embassies in each other’s capitals. This visit is the first official trip to Germany by a Nepali head of state since 1986.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepal established its embassy in Berlin on July 5, 1965, while Germany set up its embassy in Kathmandu in 1963. In 2018, both nations celebrated the 60th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship with various events.
Ministry spokesperson Amrit Bahadur Rai highlighted that visits at different levels have significantly strengthened the close and friendly ties between Nepal and Germany.
