In Nepal, millions of people wake up early each day and go to work — building houses, farming land, cooking in hotels, sewing clothes in factories, or carrying bricks at construction sites. Their hands build our country. But many of them are paid too little or treated unfairly. That’s why we need to talk about minimum wage and labor rights — to protect and respect our workers.
💰 What is Minimum Wage?
Minimum wage means the lowest amount of money a worker should be paid by law.
In Nepal, the current minimum wage is around Rs. 19,550 per month (as of 2025). This helps workers afford food, rent, school fees, and daily needs. No full-time worker should be paid less than this.
⚖️ What Are Labor Rights?
Labor rights are rules that protect workers. Some basic rights include:
- Fair pay
- Rest days and breaks
- Safe and clean workplaces
These rights help make sure people are treated like humans — not tools.
